A little
About
Hi, I'm Lil-Maria Davis — the maker behind My Artisan Hub, a small home-based creative business based in Peterborough, Ontario.
Most of my working life has been spent caring for people. More than a decade as a Personal Support Worker and Developmental Support Worker taught me something I've carried into everything since: that small, thoughtful things matter enormously. A warm cloth. Something that smells lovely. Being handed something made with attention rather than something mass-produced.
These days I split my time between supporting students through their education and making things with my hands. Through My Artisan Hub that means handmade jewellery, sublimation earrings from my CutiePie Collection, custom apparel, sewing and alterations, personalized gifts, and Afro-Caribbean cooking drawn from Caribbean and Nigerian flavours. It's a business built out of curiosity and a stubborn belief in building something of your own.
Why melt and pour
Melt and pour is the friendliest way into soapmaking. There's no lye to handle and no six-week cure to wait through — you melt a ready-made base, stir in what you love, pour it into a mold, and it's ready in an hour or two. It makes soap possible for anyone who has ever wanted to try but felt intimidated by the idea.
That's the whole reason this collection exists. Coffee, cocoa, oats, vanilla — ordinary things from the kitchen, turned into something that looks like it came from a boutique spa.
What you'll find here
Every recipe is written to be scannable and genuinely doable. Simple ingredient lists, numbered steps, and honest notes about what works and what to watch for. Where a recipe calls for a supply, I link to one so you're not left hunting.
